Open Arms supports people in our community who sometimes lack the most basic needs for survival and well being. Our goal is to help meet the immediate needs of those finding themselves in the unfortunate situation of being on the street, hungry and lonely.
Open Arms relies primarily on volunteers to operate the resource centre, and to provide the programs offered year around. Open Arms volunteers fill various roles from meal preparation, construction, maintenance, sharing their skills, leading training, and listening and communicating with guests.
Open Arms needs volunteers to ensure that the mission and vision of the organization has the volunteer strength to ensure the complete enablement of the plan. We consider our volunteer team to be our most valuable and critical asset and without them Open Arms would not be able to achieve our goals and objectives.
Volunteering and giving back to your community is one of the most rewarding experiences individual can have. Volunteers help others grow, develop, and learn new skills. Volunteers listen and communicate, providing understanding and friendship to those in need. Volunteers know the joy of helping others, and understand that if everyone did just a little bit, the world would be a better place for all. Everyone has skills and hidden talents that could be used to help others. How could your skills and talents help Open Arms? Just ask us. There is room for all.
